What we do at the address
We make the attempts included in your order at different times of day, and we record each one with the date, time, GPS location and a photo. If someone at the address tells us the person moved, or a new occupant answers, we write down what we were told and show it in your client portal.
If service cannot be completed, you receive a sworn return of non-service describing every attempt. Courts rely on that document when you ask for more time or for another way to serve.
Finding a current address
We do not sell skip tracing, locate searches or address verification. In Florida, finding where a person is for a fee is private investigation work under Chapter 493, Florida Statutes. To get a current address you can:
- check your own records, such as the lease, the contract, payment records or emails;
- ask your attorney, who can request the information in the case; or
- hire a licensed Florida private investigator.
When you have the new address, order service there like any other address. Service is priced per address.
If the person still cannot be found
For certain kinds of cases, Chapter 49, Florida Statutes, allows service by publication after a diligent search, which needs a sworn statement describing the search. Whether that applies to your case is a question for your attorney or the court. This page is general information, not legal advice.
