Serving papers in Davie
East Davie near the college campuses and University Drive, the neighborhoods along Griffin Road and Stirling Road, and the large-lot and equestrian areas in the west.
Davie is a town in central Broward County, the 17th Judicial Circuit, and every job here goes to one of our 17th Circuit certified process servers.
Large lots, long driveways and private gates
Western Davie has many homes on acre-plus lots, some with horses, a private gate at the road and a long driveway. A closed private gate is not the same as a community gate, and we do not climb or force one. We use the call box or intercom, try at different times of day, and note in the log what we saw: vehicles, lights, animals, and anyone who came to the gate. That record is what supports a later request to the court if service at the home is not possible.
In the gated communities, the rule is different: Florida Statutes section 48.031(7) requires a gated residential community, including a condominium association or a cooperative, to grant a process server unannounced entry to serve a resident.
Students and the campuses
East Davie is home to Nova Southeastern University's main campus and Broward College's central campus, and many nearby apartments are rented by students who move often. A recent address is worth more than an old one here; send the newest address you have and the date you got it.
The closest courthouse is the West Regional Courthouse, 100 North Pine Island Road, Plantation. Circuit and county civil cases are filed at the Broward County Courthouse, 201 SE 6th Street, Fort Lauderdale. See our guide to service of process in Broward.
