Rural addresses in the Redland can be a mile from the road with no house number visible. We work from GPS, county property records and neighbor confirmation, and every attempt is logged with coordinates and a photo so the affidavit shows we were at the right place.
Homestead has a large population of seasonal and agricultural workers, and defendants sometimes share housing. We identify the person before service and use substitute service only where Florida law permits it.

Three street grids in the same few miles
Homestead runs its own numbering grid on top of the county's, so one road can carry a name, a Homestead number and a county number at the same time. Northeast and Northwest 8th Street is SW 312th Street, also signed Campbell Drive. Southeast and Southwest 8th Street is SW 328th Street, also Canal Drive. They are about a mile apart.
That makes the quadrant letter load-bearing in a way it is not elsewhere in the county. Drop the NE or the SE from an address and you have named two different roads, and an affidavit written on the wrong one is worth nothing.
Florida City, contiguous to the south and west, runs a third grid of its own, so two SW 4th Streets can sit minutes apart in different municipalities.
In the farm belt the road has a name, not a number
West of town the county numbers still exist on paper but the names are what people use and what the signs say. The city's own traffic notices pair them: Speedway Boulevard is SW 137th Avenue, Kingman Road is SW 152nd Avenue, Farm Life School Road is SW 162nd Avenue, Canal Drive is SW 328th Street.
So a summons, a lease and a GPS can each call the same road something different. We resolve the name and the number to one location before a server sets off, because out here a wrong turn is measured in miles of agricultural road, not blocks.
Addresses on the farm parcels also tend to be long driveways off the road, with the structure well back from the gate.
Most Homestead addresses are not in Homestead
Two large unincorporated communities carry Homestead ZIP codes: Leisure City, with about 26,000 residents, and Naranja, with around 13,500. Together they hold roughly as many people again as the city itself.
Those addresses fall under county rather than city services, which changes who responds and which code applies, even though the envelope says Homestead.
County court matters for this area go to the South Dade Government Center, 10710 SW 211th Street, about fifteen miles back north in Cutler Bay. Circuit and county civil sit at 20 NW 1st Avenue downtown, which is a real drive from the Redland. We fold the distance into the flat rate rather than surcharging it.
