Out-of-State Papers Served in Miami-Dade

Your case is filed in another state, and the person you need to serve lives or works in Miami-Dade. Send us the papers by email; we serve them, document every attempt with a GPS point and a photo, and send back a signed return of service.

Serving papers from another state in Miami-Dade

Agera Legal Services is a certified process server in Miami-Dade County, based in Kendall. A growing part of our work comes from outside Florida: divorce and custody papers from Texas, collection suits from New York, subpoenas from Georgia and California. The case is filed in another state; the person who has to be served lives or works here. You do not need to travel or find someone locally. You send the papers, we serve them.

Our job stays narrow. The papers come to us already issued by your court. We deliver them, document every attempt, and give you a signed record of the facts. Whether this method of service fits your case, and what your court requires, are questions for your attorney or your court clerk, not for us.

How it works

  • Send the papers by email. Upload the issued citation or summons, the petition or complaint, and any order, in one order online. No originals by mail are needed unless your court asks for them.
  • Tell us who and where. The name of the person, the Miami-Dade address, and anything that helps us recognize them or find them home: a photo, a work schedule, a car.
  • Include your return form. If your court or state uses its own return-of-service form, attach it. We fill it in with the facts of the service.
  • Follow it live. Every attempt appears in your client portal with the time, the GPS point and the photo, so you can see the work from another time zone.
  • Get the return. The signed return or affidavit, with the attempt record attached, lands in your portal and your email, ready to file with your court.

How each serve is documented

Every attempt is logged in our field app at the door. The record holds the time, the GPS coordinates of the server and a photo of the address. Nothing is reconstructed from memory afterwards; the affidavit is written from that record.

Attempts are spread over different times of day. Every order includes up to 4 attempts at different times of day within your level's time, with a Saturday attempt when that time includes a Saturday. Out-of-state clients often know the person's schedule better than anyone; tell us, and we plan the attempts around it.

People in gated communities and condo towers are routine for us. Section 48.031(7) requires a gated residential community, including a condominium association, to grant unannounced entry to a person attempting to serve a resident, and our servers carry court-issued identification for the gate or the desk. If a building refuses anyway, the refusal goes on the attempt record. Read more about serving in gated communities and condo towers.

Timing: pick the level that fits your case

Every order is placed at one of four turnaround levels. Service days are Monday to Saturday, counted from when we have the paid order and the papers. Completed means served, or all included attempts made. Every level includes up to 4 attempts, the client portal, status updates, email confirmation and the affidavit.

The return you receive

The return states the facts of the service: who was served, the date and time, the address, and how the papers were delivered, or, if the person could not be served, each attempt in order. It is signed by the server who did the work. If your court uses its own form, we complete that form; otherwise we send our standard notarized affidavit of service.

We state facts, not legal conclusions. The return says what our server did and saw. Whether that satisfies your state's rules is for your attorney or your court to decide, and we do not claim any certification other than the one we hold in Miami-Dade County. How to order

Order online in a few minutes from any state: upload the papers, enter the person's name and the Miami-Dade address, attach your court's return form if it has one, choose your level and pay. The order is confirmed by email, a server is assigned, and you can follow each attempt in the portal. Start your order, or call (786) 241-4146, Monday to Saturday.

Out-of-state service questions

Can you serve papers from another state in Miami?

Yes. We serve papers issued by courts in other states on people who live or work in Miami-Dade. The papers come to us already issued; we deliver them and document each attempt.

Do I need to mail the original papers?

Usually not. Most clients upload the papers when they order and we serve printed copies. If your court requires originals, mail them to us and tell us when you order.

Will you use my state's return of service form?

Yes. Attach your court's form to the order and we complete it with the facts of the service. Without a form, you receive our standard notarized affidavit of service.

How much does out-of-state service cost?

The same flat prices as any serve in Miami-Dade: Standard $60, Rush $80, Same Day $100 and Same Day + $200, each with up to 4 attempts, the GPS and photo record and the signed return.

How do I know the papers were served?

Every attempt appears in your client portal with the time, a GPS point and a photo, and you receive the signed return by email as soon as it is done.

Can you tell me if this method of service is valid in my state?

No. Agera Legal Services is a process server, not a law firm. We serve and document the papers you send. Ask your attorney or your court clerk what your court requires.
