Small claims service for people and small businesses
Agera Legal Services is a Miami-Dade certified process server based in Kendall. Many of our small claims clients are not lawyers: a contractor owed for a job, a tenant waiting on a deposit, a shop with an unpaid invoice, a neighbor with a damage claim. Once the case is filed and the summons is issued, the papers have to be delivered to the other side, and that is the part we do.
We keep the process simple. You upload the papers, tell us who to serve and where, and pick how fast you need it. We deliver the papers the way the law allows, document every attempt, and give you a sworn record you can file with the court. What to claim, how to file and what happens at the hearing are questions for the clerk's self-help resources or an attorney, not for us.
What we serve in small claims
- The small claims summons with the statement of claim and any papers attached to it.
- Papers for an individual defendant, served at home or at work.
- Papers for a business defendant, served on the person who can accept them for the company.
- Each defendant separately, when the case names more than one person or business.
- Related papers in the same case, such as subpoenas, at our regular levels.
Small businesses use us both ways: to serve a customer or a vendor, and to serve other businesses. When the defendant is a company, the server asks for the person who can accept papers for it and records that person's name and role.
How each small claims serve is handled
Every attempt is logged in our field app at the door. The record holds the time, the GPS coordinates of the server and a photo of the address. Nothing is reconstructed from memory afterwards; the affidavit is written from that record.
Our servers try for personal delivery to the person named. For a business, the papers go to the person in charge or the person the company designates, and the affidavit says who that was. When there is more than one defendant, each one is served and documented on its own.
Attempts are spread over different times of day. Every order includes up to 4 attempts at different times of day within your level's time, with a Saturday attempt when that time includes a Saturday. Someone who works days is often home in the evening; a business is easiest to reach during its working hours, so the attempts are planned around that.
Defendants who live behind a gate or in a condo tower are routine for us. Section 48.031(7) requires a gated residential community, including a condominium association, to grant unannounced entry to a person attempting to serve a resident, and our servers carry court-issued identification for the gate or the desk. If a building refuses anyway, the refusal goes on the attempt record. Read more about serving in gated communities and condo towers.
Timing: pick the level that fits your case
Every order is placed at one of four turnaround levels. Service days are Monday to Saturday, counted from when we have the paid order and the papers. Completed means served, or all included attempts made. Every level includes up to 4 attempts, the client portal, status updates, email confirmation and the affidavit.

The affidavit you receive
When the job is done you receive a notarized affidavit of service. It states who was served, the date and time, where, and how the service was made, in the form a Florida return of service takes under section 48.21. The photo and GPS record of each attempt are attached. If the defendant cannot be served after the included attempts, you receive an affidavit of due diligence that documents each attempt instead.
The affidavit appears in your client portal the moment it is signed, ready to keep with your case file. Read more about what an affidavit of service is.
How to order
Order online in a few minutes: upload the summons and the statement of claim, enter the name of the person or business to be served and the address, choose your level and pay. The order is confirmed by email, a server is assigned, and you can follow each attempt in the portal. Start your order, or call (786) 241-4146, Monday to Saturday.
